The complete guide to protecting your bike frame from damage
introduction
A scratch on a bike is one of the most painful experiences for a bike owner. Luckily, you can use frame protection tapes and films to keep your bike frame looking pristine.
To protect the frame, special clear tape is typically used to cover the areas of the bike that are at risk from wear or impact. This serves two purposes: Firstly, it helps preserve the aesthetics of your bike by protecting it from scratches and scuffs, thereby preserving its resale value. Secondly, it can help prevent serious damage to your bike, such as those caused by rocks or accidents.
If you've ever had the unpleasant feeling of a rock hitting your bike's downtube, you'll understand why extra protection is important, especially with carbon frames.

Structure of the bicycle protection film (RideWrap)
Self-healing & hydrophobic top coat
The top layer is the most important layer of protection when you're out on the trail. Its superhydrophobic properties help repel stains and mud, making cleaning easier and maintaining a fresh, new look. When exposed to heat, the self-healing properties of our elastomeric polyurethane topcoat also help eliminate swirls or light scratches.
TPU durability structure
The RideWrap film is made of impact- and abrasion-resistant thermoplastic urethane (TPU). It is designed to protect your bike from damage caused by rock chips, tree stumps, falls and other impacts.
acrylate adhesive layer
The film uses a high performance acrylic adhesive layer as a base. This layer is specifically formulated to resist delamination and hold edges securely in place. When it's time to replace or remove them, the adhesive comes off without a trace, as if it was never there.

Why you need frame protection
Frame protection serves two main purposes. First, it helps prevent scratches and scuffs caused by repeated rubbing or by your bike coming into contact with other objects or surfaces. This can happen if you put your bike in a stand or bike rack or attach bags or straps to the frame.
Secondly, thicker and more absorbent bands can also protect your bike from structural damage. This damage can occur if a stone hits the down tube or something falls on the top tube. In the event of a fall, the frame protection straps can also help prevent serious damage.
It's worth noting that carbon bikes are more susceptible to structural damage than aluminum models, while steel bikes are generally more resilient. However, all types of bikes can benefit from frame protection to protect them from wear and tear in key areas.

How to install a bike frame protector
1. Clean the frame
To clean your Frame effectively, use isopropyl alcohol (or a similar cleaning solution) and microfiber cloths. Make sure to clean the Frame thoroughly for best results. If you ignore this step, your frame protection kit may not stick properly.
2. Moisten the surface
Now moisten the first area with the spray you made. Then, with wet hands, remove the selected panel and spray the adhesive side.
3. Place your panel
Carefully attach your chosen plate to the appropriate location on your bike. It is best not to use the squeegee and to apply as little pressure as possible during this phase. We don't want complete bonding yet. This gives you the opportunity to align the protective film precisely. Once you are happy with the alignment, you can press the middle portion of the panel to secure it in place.
4. Wipe off water with a squeegee
Gently position the panel in the desired spot and start squeegeeing it from the center towards the edges. This will make the bond between the protective panel and the Frame permanent by removing any air bubbles and squeezing out the baby shampoo/water solution from under the sheet.
This process is similar to applying a protective film on a phone screen, but it may be more challenging due to the curved areas. It's important to perform this step slowly and thoroughly, ensuring that the panel is fully attached to the Frame. As you reach the edge of the Frame, carefully squeegee the panel around and push the squeegee away from the center.
Once you're done, dry the area with a clean cloth. You may notice some edges that haven't properly adhered, but don't worry about those yet.
5. Dry the frame and glue the edges
After wrapping your bike with the frame protection kit, it is important to dry the frame thoroughly to ensure the edges are securely fixed. If the edges are wet, the glue cannot adhere properly. As soon as the frame is dry, the adhesive can work its magic. After applying the kit, please wait 24 hours for the glue to stick properly.
